HOUSTON, October 12 – Plans are underway for the WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY 9TH ANNUAL GALA AND POLO EVENT to be held on Sunday, November 5, 2006 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the pavilion at the Houston Polo Club, 8552 Memorial Drive at Loop 610. The event will benefit the Window of Opportunity Scholarship Fund for high school students in HISD.
Honored Guests are the Honorable S. M. Gavai, Consul General of India in Houston and Mrs. Rina Gavai. Honorary Chairman of the event is Dr. Jagdish C. Sharma. This year’s Honoree is Mrs. Francie Willis who will receive the Window of Opportunity Lifetime Community Service Award. Ernie Manouse – host of Houston PBS shows “Inner Views” and “The After Party”- will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
This gala will pay tribute to the culture of India. Festivities include – In the Pavilion – at 1:00 p.m. Sunday Brunch featuring gourmet dishes from Kiran’s Indian Restaurant and Maggiano’s. Guests will enjoy wine and refreshments, ice-cold vodka, courtesy of Ikon True Russian Vodka - the official vodka sponsor for the event - and piping hot Segafredo espresso from Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, Inc; at 2:00 p.m. award presentations, musical entertainment and dance by Anjali Art Center and silent and live auctions. From preferred seats under the marquee tents – at 3:00 PM guests will view a very competitive polo match and at 5:00 PM the presentation of the polo cup and awards to polo players. Dress will be Indian Inspired Attire, Service Dress or Polo Chic. Sponsorship levels are $2,000.00, $4,000.00 and $8,000.00 and have benefits attached. Regular tickets start at $75.00. VIP tickets for pavilion seating start at $100.00.and have reserved seating privileges, program and invitation recognition. Founded in 1996, the Window of Opportunity Foundation is a Chapter 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) public charity that provides four-year scholarships for economically disadvantaged high school students in the Houston Independent School District. Based on academic improvement, financial need, career potential and a desire to attend college, eligible students receive a scholarship to attend a Houston college or university of their choice.
